Historic Renovation Services
Tague Lumber’s historic renovation services focus on preserving and restoring architectural and structural wood elements with precision and historical accuracy. We collaborate closely with historic commissions to ensure every detail meets preservation standards while maintaining the integrity of the original structure. Furthermore, our work aligns with the standards of the Philadelphia Historic Commission, reflecting our commitment to preserving the integrity of historic properties.
We specialize in restoring and recreating:
- Windows and doors
- Shutters and rafter tails
- Beadboard, porch flooring, and ceilings
- Brackets and corbels
- Siding and shakes
- Railings and balusters
- Radius mouldings and pediment heads
Through our Custom Millwork Division, we can match or recreate nearly any architectural component. Many historic profiles are no longer manufactured—but we can reproduce them with exact precision. With an archive of over 2,000 custom knives, and the ability to create new knives when needed, we ensure every moulding profile meets strict historical standards.
Our team crafts custom mouldings and millwork from a wide range of wood species. While standard mouldings often use pine, fir, or oak, we produce custom profiles in premium materials such as Spanish cedar, poplar, Sapele mahogany, red and white oak, birch, black locust, cherry, maple, and walnut. We also offer modern material solutions including MDF and PVC (Kleer) when appropriate for the project.
Whether you are restoring a landmark property or maintaining a historic home, our historic renovation services provide the expertise and craftsmanship required for authentic results. Our Custom Millwork Division is ready to support your project—contact any Tague Lumber location to get started or learn more about our capabilities.
